Body Sugaring

TIPS AND TRICKS

Here's what you need to know and why

WHAT IS BODY SUGARING

Body sugaring is most commonly compared to body waxing. However, there are several noticeable differences that affect the end result of the removal of the body hair.

SUGARING

  • All natural, vegan ingredients: water, sugar, lemon

  • Environmentally friendly: water soluble and biodegradable

  • does not adhere to live skin cells (removes dead skin)

  • sugar paste is bacteria resistant

  • applied against hair growth and removed in the direction of the hair (results in less breakage, less ingrowns)

  • applied at body temperature

  • skin feels soft, clean and more comfortable

WAXING

  • Contains beeswax, oils and rosins (potentially other harmful chemicals)

  • bad for the environment: cleaned with oils and harsh solvents (most hard waxes can't be broken down)

  • adheres to all skin cells

  • bacteria can breed in wax warmers

  • applied in the direction of hair growth and removed against the grain (more likely to cause ingrowns, hair breakage)

  • can burn skin if not allowed to cool enough before application

  • skin can feel raw, uncomfortable and irritated

BEFORE GETTING SUGARED

  • Ensure hair is a minimum of 1/4 inches long (length of a grain of rice)

  • do not apply lotion, cream, oil or makeup to treatment area 24 hours prior to appointment

  • do not exfoliate the day of your appointment

  • exfoliate 2 days before your appointment

  • do not use deodorant if getting underarms sugared

  • drink lots of water the day of your appointment

  • avoid coming in on, or around your menstrual cycle, as the skin tends to be more sensitive

  • take an ibuprofen 30 minutes prior to your appointment to help with pain

AFTER GETTING SUGARED

24 hours after treatment, please avoid the following:

  • scented lotions, creams, oils or makeup to the treated area

  • exfoliation (begin 48 hours after treatment)

  • deodorant, exercising (sweating)

  • saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms and hot yoga

  • avoid swimming and direct sunlight, tanning beds and infrared lamps

  • touching, scratching or rubbing the treated area

  • sexual activities (bikini, bikini plus, brazilian)

Two days post treatment, exfoliate in a circular motion. Use a loofah, scrub bar, shower mitt etc.

follow up with moisturizer to ensure you're keeping ingrowns and any irritation to a minimum. Exfoliate 3x a week.

DO NOT shave between appointments

Rebook every 4-6 weeks for optimal hair removal results.
